Eco-friendly, Cost-effective, Sustainable

At Nanxing, we understand that many of our clients don’t just want a building that performs its intended function – they also want to limit its impact on the environment as much as possible.

We share this ethos wholeheartedly and are extremely proud of our products’ strong green credentials.

Humans have been building with mud and clay bricks for thousands of years. In fact, the oldest discovered bricks date all the way back to 7500BC! A testament not just to their usefulness as a building material, but their durability too.

In fact, many of the older and more traditional approaches to construction (like cobb and wood buildings) are being rekindled, as we learn the value of using components that can be replenished.

Clay is one of the most abundant raw materials which occur in nature – a perfect meeting of water, soil, and sediment. Compared with manmade materials like cement and concrete (which can contain harmful chemicals like chromium, nonylphenol and calcium oxide) clay is really just a fine-grained soil. This is one of the reasons red clay bricks are so easy to recycle.

Producing clay bricks also results in far lower carbon emissions than other materials. In addition, clay can be harvested from just one quarry, whereas components (like shale, chalk, sand, bauxite, and iron ore) for concrete and other less eco-friendly building materials usually come from several different locations, often halfway around the world from each other. All these have to be transported to a factory to be processed before they’re ready for use.

Here are the environmental advantages of our clay bricks in a nutshell:
